First Media Appearance

NBC Philadelphia

Just weeks after being crowned Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Olivia McMillan has begun her national media tour. She kicked it off while attending the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, where she made appearances and gave a one-on-one interview to NBC in Philadelphia.

In that interview, which aired on the day of the Miss America Pageant, Olivia talked about winning when you are a dress size 12, the pressure some women feel to be skinny, and achieving a healthy weight for her. She underscored how relevant the MAOT program is for young women in today’s competitive world.

After the taping, NBC anchor Jacqueline London asked for a picture with Olivia and later tweeted it saying, “Great to interview Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, the gorgeous and lovely Olivia McMillan.”

On the newest leg of her media tour Olivia was interviewed by both Fox24 as well as WMAZ Eyewitness News in Central Georgia. Olivia answered questions on her weight loss, biracial background, and her struggle to break the mold and steal the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Crown.

” “It was tough growing up because people always have questions to ask because I don’t look like my parents” said McMillan.

Answering those tough questions at a young age helped build tough skin. It also prepared her to answer the tough questions from pageant judges.

She advises young girls who are seeking pageant titles to be themselves, regardless of their size, or their skin.

“You can do it. You can break the mold just like I did” said McMillan.” “(
