Television personality and creator of ybf Beauty joins MAOT
as keynote speaker
Orlando,
FL - The Miss America's Outstanding Teen Organization (MAOT)
announced today that television shopping maven Stacey
Schieffelin, founder of Models Prefer cosmetics,
who was named one of America's "Power Women" by Ladies' Home
Journal, will be the keynote speaker at the post-competition
celebration on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Rosen Centre
Hotel. Schieffelin's new cosmetics line, ybf (your best
friend) Beauty, is sponsoring the event.
"I cannot think of a group of young ladies who can better
understand the importance of being your own best friend than
the participants in this competition," states Schieffelin. "If
you don't believe in yourself, no one else can."
A former Ford model, Schieffelin founded an international
cosmetics company, Models Prefer, 12 years ago, which has been
featured on The Home Shopping Network (HSN) in the U.S.
and on QVC (in the U.S., U.K. and Germany). Her latest
venture, ybf (your best friend), is a natural
extension of Schieffelin's fun, engaged relationship with her
Models Prefer customers, offering first a figure-friendly
clothing line and Pajama Party at Sea cruises, and now a new
beauty line debuting August 3rd on HSN in the U.S. and on
August 30th on QVC in the U.K.
Schieffelin, a board member for MAOT, said she's greatly
inspired by the current MAOT titleholder, Caitlin Brunell,
whose drive to develop Caitlin's Closet, a non-profit
organization that collects gently worn prom gowns and
distributes them to girls in need, has resulted in the
distribution of more than 5,000 gowns in 10 states!
"As soon as I met Caitlin, I knew she was a very special young
lady, and, like so many others, I have been cheering her
success all year," says Schieffelin. "It's been my honor to
develop a product line inspired by Caitlin's very important
message to young women to be their own best friends."
Every 2008 MAOT contestant will receive a complimentary train
case filled with beautiful be...ybf, Inspired by
Caitlin Brunell cosmetics.
In addition to helping girls strengthen their sense of self
through her non-profit work, Caitlin has been traveling the
nation as the reigning Miss America's Outstanding Teen on a
platform that encourages people to keep looking beyond
stereotypes and "being proud of your differences."
"My plan definitely includes taking Caitlin's Closet
nationally," says Brunell. "Besides just giving a girl a
dress, it makes them feel confident and beautiful."
MAOT, the "little sister" to Miss America, will host its
national competition in Orlando during the week of August
12-16, 2008 with 52 state representatives competing in various
competitions for a chance to win over $30,000 in college
scholarships and the title of Miss America's Outstanding Teen.
The competition will be held in the Linda Chapin Theatre at
the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
At the conclusion of the Miss America's Outstanding Teen
competition on Saturday evening, guests can enjoy an all
American breakfast, take photos, and meet some of the sponsors
and scholarship donors as well as the newly crowned Miss
America's Outstanding Teen 2009. The 2008 contestants will be
introduced and their winnings announced. Congratulatory words
will be offered by Stacey Schieffelin during her speech.
Schieffelin is launching ybf Beauty on August 3, 2008, on the
Home Shopping Network at 12:00AM EST (midnight), 10:00AM,
3:00PM and 8:00PM. Products are also available on HSN.com.
